ENDOCRINOLOGIST

Dr Chau Tran is an endocrinologist – a specialist in hormones and their related disorders. He has an interest in diabetes (gestational, type 2, type 1 and steroid-induced), osteoporosis & bone/calcium metabolism, weight management, PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome), reproductive endocrinology (male & female hypogonadism and subfertility), hormonal-related causes of hypertension and hair loss, as well disorders/cancers affecting the thyroid, parathyroid, pituitary, adrenals.

Dr Tran graduated from the University of New South Wales Medical School with Honours, then completed his specialist training at St Vincent’s Hospital Sydney, The Garvan Institute of Medical Research, Concord Repatriation General Hospital, and Westmead Hospital.

He holds appointments as an Endocrinology Staff Specialist at Campbelltown & Camden Hospitals (Macarthur Diabetes, Endocrinology & Metabolism Services), Conjoint Lecturer with the University of New South Wales and Western Sydney University Medical Schools, and Consultant Endocrinologist at Waratah Private Hospital in Hurstville and SouthWest Medical Specialists in Gregory Hills.

He is actively involved in clinical research, SWSLHD quality improvement initiatives, as well as teaching and supervision of medical students and specialist trainees. He regularly attends local, national and international conferences to stay abreast of the latest developments in endocrinology.
